Project Overview

Located at the base of the Vail ski area, the 300,000-square-foot Vail’s Front Door development provides first-class amenities, facilities, and services. At an elevation of 8,500 feet in the Rocky Mountains, the project site presented some logistical challenges. Through careful coordination, the Baker team overcame complications and completed the project on schedule. The project used concrete cast-in-place beams spanning 70 feet, more than double the length that would normally be used. In addition, Baker engineers designed the reshoring to take down the power crane and drive the assist crane (240 tons) plus trucks that hold crane parts. The project was ranked #6 in Colorado Construction magazine’s Overall Top Projects of 2008.
