Project Details

Helping to maintain world peace is part of the purpose of the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility at the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site in Aiken, South Carolina. The $4.8 billion facility, performed under the Department of Energy's highest quality level, NQA-1, will reprocess weapons-grade plutonium into fuel that can be used in nuclear reactors for power generation. Baker was contracted on this project designed for manufacturing uranium and plutonium fuel pellets for use in electric power generating.
